Chapter Nine: School, Community, and Family Partnerships

Summary from Chapter 9 (Bean, 2004):

"This chapter discussed the rationale for building partnerships with communities and families and described various ways in which reading specialists can work to build relationships with community agencies, including preschool providers, universities, libraries, those who offer supplemental programs to students, and volunteers. In addition, the importance of parents' involvement, and ways of enhancing that involvement in their children's education were discussed (p. 165)"
